All Booked Out is a book fest designed for readers, writers, authors and those interested in the indie publishing industry. With an author market, kids corner, panels, readings and a book swap on offer, All Booked Out is designed to be a haven for all things books.
Taking place in the heart of winter, All Booked Out celebrates the stories and local authors that keep our hearts warm. With the theme of Themes We Orbit threaded through the event, authors and attendees are invited to explore the ideas, thoughts, dreams and fantasies they just can’t ignore.
All Booked Out, hosted by Coven Press, is designed to be a haven for book lovers, readers and writers. Featuring a line-up of local authors based in Ballarat and surrounding areas, the festival will take place in the heart of the winter school holidays and Ballarat Winter Fest on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th July from 9am – 4pm at the Interclub Drop In Centre at 320 Pleasant St S. All Booked Out invites all attendees to explore the idea of Themes We Orbit – the dreams, ideas, thoughts and fantasies we just can’t ignore!
All Booked Out truly has something for everyone, featuring:
Alongside the market, four panels will take place over the weekend, exploring genre, craft and the themes authors orbit. The first panel, scheduled for 12:30pm on Saturday 12th, is Romance in Fiction: More Than a Fad, featuring authors Julie Kay, Emma Mugglestone and Holly Brunnbauer. They’ll discuss romance in fiction, its staying power and its importance.
Following that at 2pm, authors Nicholas Wetemans, Kelly Wilson and J.B. Villinger will talk about the craft of suspense and tension in all genres on the Seeking Suspense: Crafting Tension panel.
On Sunday 13th July, Fantasy in a Fractured World will kick off at 12:30pm, featuring Elisse Hay, Anthony Kearle and J.C. Rycroft. They’ll talk about the importance of fantasy and how it often reflects the world we live in and hope for.
The Indie Industry: A Breakdown panel, featuring local Ballarat company Hardy Audio, author/podcaster MG Hunt, Coven Press marketing coordinator Stef Talevski and Ballarat author Paula Gleeson will shine a light on the indie industry and the many pathways available to authors. All panels are free, but book your seat through Eventbrite.
After the doors of the All Booked Out author market have closed for the day on Saturday 12th, join Coven Press for an after dark event. Come along for a cosy and comfortable one-on-one experience with local author Paula Gleeson. With a glass of wine and charcuterie board included in the ticket price, the evening will offer attendees the opportunity to ask their burning writing and publishing questions. (18+ event)
