As one of the oldest and most beloved traditions in history, storytelling has the innate capability to transcend differences, shape the future and investigate what it means to be human.
Coven Press’ mission is to nurture ideas, tell stories, build bookish communities and provide an inclusive experience at all stages of an author’s journey. We believe that stories recognise, revolutionise and reconsider all we know about the tangible reality we live in and offer hope for a future founded on cosmic empathy and human connection.
The Coven:
The publishing industry is built on people and their stories. However, the entrenched nature of it is oftentimes overwhelming and exclusionary. The creative professionals at Coven Press know this all too well (with humble beginnings in hybrid publishing) and instead offer a community where transparency, authenticity and collaboration are welcomed and growth is fostered.
We see opportunities in the ever-evolving landscape of publishing to transcend the preconceived. We aim to break down the barriers of misinformation, recognise outdated norms, challenge unethical practices and honour each and every author journey with the respect it truly deserves.
In planting these seeds for the future, we strive to build an inclusive literary community where every voice is authentically represented, every story is valued and every individual finds a place to belong and thrive.
In mid-2024, a collective of passionate literary creatives came together with the shared realisation that there was a clear lack of nourishment for authors in the literary landscape. Whether it was the challenges of navigating self-publishing's wild terrain, or the daunting search for a literary gardener to champion their work, or the absence of a rooted, supportive community, we knew something needed to change.
And so, with the seeds of our own experience, and vision, a spark was ignited. There had to be a better way for authors to find the tools, the guidance and the visibility to blossom. This belief rooted itself deep within the foundation of what would soon be know as Coven Press.
In February 2025, on the eve of Lughnasadh – when the harvest season is honoured and abundance is celebrated – we summoned the spirits of creativity and Coven Press was born. Our mission has always been to create thriving gardenscapes for authors and writers that not only tend to their immediate needs, but nurture long-term growth. We are here to not only offer services, but to cultivate spaces where authors are championed, grow and bloom together in community.
Our vision for the future is as bold as the turning of the seasons:
As we grow, we do so with the knowledge that the success of authors and our Coven is intertwined with our collective success as a community. We are dedicated to nurturing authors at every stage of their self-publishing journey, from seedling to full bloom, ensuring they have everything they need to flourish in the ever-shifting literary landscape.
We’re just beginning to sow the seeds of everything Coven Press can become, but the soil is fertile, and the path ahead is rich with opportunity. We cannot wait to see what grows from our collective garden to yours.
Coven Press is a collective led by diverse and passionate women, including some who are proudly part of the LGBTQIA+ community.
While we are not currently hiring, we strive to collaborate and build a community with individuals from all backgrounds and communities in the future.
Crafted by worlds with roots nurtured in fire,
my passion ignites when our stories build pyres.
With an undergrad and masters in creative arts, my life both personally and professionally has centred around writing and publishing since my earliest memories. I live in character-driven stories, with some of my favourite tropes being found family, villain origin story, enemies-to-allies (I see you, Zuko), slow-burn, enemies-to-lovers and band of misfits.
An author myself, I fell in love with weaving the journey of a book together, from start to finish. Formatting books became another creative outlet that allowed me to dive deep into making a book “real”, while working with other authors to provide knowledge and guidance fills my cup.
When I'm not living the book life, I’m hanging out with my cat babies and consuming stories in any other medium I can, be it video games, TV or nerding out at a D&D table.
A steward of syntax, a patron of prose,
I tend to the garden where story grows.
I’ve been a student of words and worlds for as long as I can remember. The stories we write (and read) reflect how we understand the world and how we wish the world to understand us.
With qualifications in writing and editing, and over seven years’ experience as a freelance editor, I approach manuscripts with a keen eye for detail, a desire for compelling characters and an unbridled collaborative spirit.
I want to read stories that explore relationships, the complexities of navigating worlds that work against us and characters that refuse the status quo.
When I’m not wandering the garden paths of Coven Press, you can find me reading with my cat Alfie, deep diving into a random world history or pop culture topic, or writing furiously in my Notes app.
From clients’ dreams to visuals bright,
I craft their thoughts into pure delight.
A serial student of design, I love transforming a client’s ideas into a visual medium, bringing their vision to life.
With a strong foundation in design, including qualifications in graphic design, interior design and architectural building design, I bring a multifaceted approach to creative projects. Recognised with two design scholarships from Federation University, my passion for books fuels my creativity – their ability to transport readers through the written word inspires me endlessly. I unapologetically judge books by their covers – I love bookshops, they are vaults of visual and literary gems.
When I’m not designing, you’ll find me out in my garden, planning my next travel adventure, practising at the archery range or enjoying “dogventures” with my two crazy pups.
In labyrinths tangled with stories un-spun,
I map out the path ’til the chaos is none.
A writer’s mind palace is where they endlessly twine the delicate skein of their stories, and that is where I most feel at home – in a wingback, in the corner, observing, provoking, empowering these conduits of creativity.
With a tenure in film and television, specialising in screenwriting and story producing, I’ve learnt to perceive stories as multi-dimensional living, breathing entities, while navigating the intricate mazes of storytelling. Whether it’s in developing ideas or shaping social strategies, I desire to create a space for authors voices to be heard, understood and recognised.
When I’m not at Coven Press, you’ll find me writing horrors, telling fortunes, diving headfirst into my monthly fixation hobby or on some Sudoku world leaderboard.
I am but a symbol, a marker of progress,
a reminder of the origin of Coven Press.
I first met the Coven Press team, before Coven Press was even the seed of an idea, in the dimly lit rooms of a converted office space, soundtracked by client meetings, clacking keyboards and the occasional whispered, some might say conspiratorial, conversation. I blushed as every team member remarked on the beauty of my leaves and admired the height I’d managed to grow to. My lucky day came when the simmering undercurrent of madness that haunted the walls of the office space toppled everything asunder and Liz offered to give me a home. Now I bask in a well-lit, warm and plant-friendly spot, watching as Coven Press blooms. The memories of the old are baked within my leaves, a kind of dreamcatcher for the past, but new heights are what we’re aiming for.
