Georgie: The Plot Solidifies by Kat Orgovany

Promotional release by Stef on behalf of Coven Press.

Independent YA author and musician Kat Orgovany returns with the second instalment of her debut series, Georgie: The Plot Solidifies. Releasing in November 2025 in conjunction with Coven Press, Georgie is back: older and wiser, but still quintessentially her, ready to face the world with her signature sarcasm and wit, one lesson at a time.

Georgie: The Plot Solidifies follows Georgie as she navigates her chaotic life filled with eccentric friends, complicated relationships and sanity (or insanity) of self. Haunted by her past with Sister Catherine, a nun-turned-nemesis, Georgie grapples with an accidental inheritance, arson and a romantic entanglement with a musician and a bar owner. Marked by unlikely friendships, humorous escapades, a couple of voodoo dolls and a quest to find gold, Georgie: The Plot Solidifies highlights the importance of purpose, family, the future and what it means to be totally oneself.

“It was really important for me to write about what it was like growing up and navigating life while trying to deal with certain issues that are especially prominent now,” Orgovany said. “I’m hoping to shed light on bisexuality and the LGBTQI+ community. They are real, important and exist and that was really integral for me to explore deeper in this book.”

While the Victorian-based author may have come of age a long time ago, she has always found a home in coming-of-age stories. Dieting on John Hughes films and a career interviewing music royalty – from Suzi Quatro to Kate Moennig – the heart of Kat Orgovany’s stories have always encompassed the struggles of growing up, not fitting in and the taboo. Orgovany’s exploration into themes of queer sexuality, trauma and tragedy are told firsthand by the author, holding space for those seeking acceptance in a world unprepared for their differences.

about THE author

Kat Orgovany came of age a long time ago but can’t get enough of coming-of-age stories. Having grown up on a diet of John Hughes films, she developed a love of teenage stories that encompass the struggles of growing up and not fitting in.

Kat has worked as a freelance writer and fangirled when interviewing Suzi Quatro and Kate Moennig for magazines. She also became an accomplished musician and storytelling songwriter and currently enjoys working with children in her day job.

In between completing her Advanced Diploma in Professional Writing and Editing, Kat started her debut young adult fiction novel Georgie, which took an unfathomable number of years to complete.

Georgie was finally released in February 2024 to positive reviews and was nominated for The Stella Prize and The Danz Children’s Book Award for young adult fiction. The second book in the series, Georgie: The Plot Solidifies, will be published in 2025.

Kat lives in Melbourne with her partner, young daughter and fur kids.
